My Son

My Son has shown me Wisdom; hope it gives you inspiration today as it has given me.  Love you Billy! And I give thanks to God for you!

Finding You:

Are you as gentle as they say? I caught you staring
And I am not afraid to approach.
Yet I am cautious for other reasons, one being my past
And one being the fact that you have a reputation.
I don’t, and never have.
I am a free soul with free ways of living.
Ain’t that the way it ought to be?
If you don’t think so maybe you should observe me some time
Instead of the opposite.
I’ve been watching you for some time now, and I believe
Its your turn to watch me.

I am:

I am a dreamer, yes, a serious dreamer.
I am a slacker, yes, a serious slacker.
I am a child, yes, a serious child.
I am a giver, yes, a serious giver.
I am a writer, yes, a serious writer.
And I have an imagination, wits,
And a will to change the world as it appears today.
I am who you are, and together
We can make a difference.

The Right Path:

They told me to follow what was meant for me to follow.
At first I listened, and it all seemed just about right.
I watched others do the same thing, not the very same,
But what they were told they were destined for.
There were surgeons, and lawyers, fire fighters
And teachers, auto-mechanics, and engineers
A whole pot full of employment.
Yet when I asked one fine fellow, he looked back at me
And told me that his profession was not his love.
That he was expected to follow his father’s orders,
To live a life that would make him money and not happiness.
That is when I changed my ways, and now I follow a new path
I am a writer, because I chose to be.
I am a writer because this is what I love to do.
I am a writer, because a writer is who I am.

The Difference:

They never expected it from me, although I had told them many times.
I'm different than you expected, but altogether I am the same.
I am that athletic boy you saw standing in front of you,
yet I am also the writer that you couldn't believe produced
those very words lying on that paper.
I am the student, the friend, the son, and the dreamer.
I am everything that you have said was true about me
I am an individual with goals, and I seek them out everyday.
I travel through time, and wonder what the future will bring
yet I do not doubt myself, for I know that I am just
as capable as you told me I could be.
When I look at you I see something different, and that is a proper
thing. We're all individuals, and if you were not different
then something would not be right.

LIFE

If we are anxious to find absolute perfection in created things we cease to look for perfection where alone it can be found: in God.

To desire a spiritual life is, to desire discipline. #MERTON

The Visitation

On today,s great Feast of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin I find Wisdom. With many examples brought to us on this day, one strikes me today as I read Conversation with God and I quote "today's feast reveals to us one aspect of Mary's interior life, her disposition of humble service and selfless love for whoever needs her help." Mary brought joy to her cousin, because she brought Christ. We must begin with ourselves.... Do we have Christ in us? When we do, we like Mary can bring Christ to others. Today let us remember that each encounter with Mary brings us a new discovery of Jesus. On this day I make my total consecration to Jesus through Mary, and I pray that Mary will always lead me to her Son, our Lord. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed art thou among women.

Veni Sancte Spiritus

Come, Holy Spirit, send forth the heavenly radiance of your light.
Come, father of the poor, come giver of gifts, come, light of the heart.
Greatest comforter, sweet guest of the soul, sweet consolation.
In labor, rest, in heat, temperance, in tears, solace.
O most blessed light, fill the inmost heart of your faithful.
Without your divine will, there is nothing in man, nothing is harmless.
Wash that which is unclean, water that which is dry, heal that which is wounded.
Bend that which is inflexible, warm that which is chilled, make right that which is wrong.
Give to your faithful, who rely on you, the sevenfold gifts.
Give reward to virtue, give salvation at our passing on, give eternal joy.
Amen. Alleluia.
